About us
At Wandering Crane Photography, we are all about helping you feel closer to the birds,
animals and landscapes in our world.
Our name and logo are derived from the majestic
African Grey Crowned Crane (Balearica regulorum), a bird that is unfortunately on the
International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) endangered species list with an
estimated global population of 17700-22300 mature individuals. We have a special
fondness for this bird that frequently forages and nests around our family farm in
Nyahururu, Kenya. Our business was originally inspired by the desire to increase
awareness and support conservation efforts for this bird. Since then, we have continued
to travel across the world discovering many other beautiful birds, animals and natural
resources that we’d love to share with you and preserve for future generations. We are
so excited to go on this journey with you and we invite you to browse our website and
social media pages to see our beautiful pictures and learn more about the subjects
featured in them.
We know you’ll want to bring a piece of these amazing creatures and landscapes home
with you and you can do that by purchasing one of our products! For each bird or
animal inspired product you purchase, we will send you a note with more information
about your new creature friend and a story of how we met them! We hope this will help
you enjoy getting to know them as much as we do!
Warmest regards,
Jacob and Vivian Thomas at Wandering Crane Photography
